Where do lice come from?

Hello, I have the following question: where do lice appear on the head? How can they be infected in modern conditions?

My friend contracted them at work! For me it was a real shock, I did not think that in the 21st century this is even possible!

However, as it turned out , this problem is quite common.

I would very much not like them to start and I too, please tell me what measures should be taken to exclude the slightest possibility of their appearance.

I hope for your help, thank you very much!

- Hello. Lice are still often found in modern man, despite good living conditions and a high level of hygiene.

Many myths are associated with these parasites: many believe that they can live in hibernation under the skin and come out when the body weakens, others believe that they can be infected in nature or from contact with animals.

In fact, there is only one way to transmit lice to a person - from another person, and only with close contact, since these parasites can neither jump nor fly.

Most often, lice or, in other words, pediculosis, is transmitted from the carrier during hugs, kisses, during sexual intercourse, as well as during joint games, wrestling and other close contacts.

Most often, children suffer from pediculosis - and this is not surprising, because it is in children's groups that the frequency of close contacts is the highest.

Also, pediculosis can be obtained if you use with an infected person one pillow, comb, towel or other household items, hygiene, as well as clothing.

This is especially true for fur hats: lice can live on fur for a long time, since they do not distinguish it from human hair.

Often, people discover lice after going to a common bath: this is due to the fact that these parasites can exist for quite a long time without oxygen, besides, a humid environment and water is favorable for them.

Thus, we can say that theoretically almost every person can detect pediculosis, regardless of social status and level of hygiene. This is especially true for children.

However, it is not so difficult to protect yourself from lice: it is enough not to use other people's combs and other personal items and avoid close contacts with unfamiliar people - these are the main ways to transmit pediculosis.
